OUR STORY

On April 21, 1908 First Baptist Church of Virginia Beach began. With vision and hope a group of men & women committed to building a community of faith.

Through decades that saw 2 World Wars and economic struggles the church was faithful in its mission of being a light, in the world Christ gave himself for. In 1951 the church moved from 17th Street to 35th Street. A new building was dedicated in 1965, which is still the hub of ministry & mission today.

In 2021 First Baptist became Ocean Church. While the name changed to reflect changing times, the message of the Good News never changes.

Relevant services, creative ministries and compassionate missions continue to write the story of faith for the next generation.
